Medically supervised
weight management.

Clinical assessment, personalised lifestyle coaching, and medication options where appropriate. Evidence-based support for sustainable weight loss at 113 Chester Road, Sunderland.

About our programme

A clinical approach to weight management.

Sustainable weight management requires addressing the underlying metabolic, hormonal, and behavioural factors that drive weight gain — not just calorie restriction. Our programme begins with a clinical assessment to identify any medical factors affecting your weight, followed by a personalised plan.

Where clinically appropriate, our prescribing pharmacist can discuss medication options including GLP-1 receptor agonists (such as semaglutide). All medication is issued after a thorough clinical review and is monitored throughout the programme.

Who is this for? Adults with a BMI ≥30, or BMI ≥27 with a weight-related health condition (type 2 diabetes, hypertension, sleep apnoea). Also suitable for patients who have struggled with diet and exercise alone.

FAQs

Weight management FAQs.

Is medication always part of the programme?
No. Medication is only prescribed where clinically appropriate after a full assessment. Many patients benefit significantly from structured behavioural support and nutritional guidance alone. Medication is discussed as one option, not a default.
Are GLP-1 medications available?
Our prescribing pharmacist can assess eligibility for GLP-1 receptor agonists (including semaglutide/Ozempic/Wegovy) as part of a medically supervised programme. Eligibility depends on BMI, health history, and other clinical criteria.
How long does the programme take?
Clinically meaningful weight loss (5–10% of body weight) is typically achieved over 3–6 months with consistent engagement. The total duration depends on your goals and response to the programme.
Do I need blood tests?
Baseline blood tests are recommended to check metabolic markers, blood glucose, thyroid function, and liver function before starting. These help identify any underlying conditions and establish a monitoring baseline.
