About this service

Urinary health assessment.

Urinary symptoms — burning, frequency, cloudy urine, pain, or blood — can indicate a range of conditions from a urinary tract infection to kidney disease, diabetes, or liver conditions. Our GPhC-registered pharmacist will carry out a clinical assessment and advise on the most appropriate next steps.

Book online or call 0191 503 4053. Same-day appointments are usually available. Depending on your symptoms and history, your pharmacist may refer you for a laboratory urine culture, blood tests, or further clinical investigation.

Think you have a UTI? Women aged 16–64 with uncomplicated UTI symptoms may be eligible for our free NHS Pharmacy First service — clinical assessment and treatment at no charge, no urine sample required to get started.

Your pharmacist will explain what the assessment indicates and advise on next steps. Depending on the finding, this may include self-care advice, a prescription, a follow-up blood test, or a referral to your GP for further investigation.
Is this the same as the Pharmacy First UTI service?
The Pharmacy First UTI service is a free NHS service for eligible patients (women 16–64 with uncomplicated UTI symptoms) — no urine sample is required to get started. Our private urinary health consultation is available to all patients regardless of age, gender, or NHS eligibility and covers a broader range of urinary health concerns.
