Entry requirements

What you need before you travel to Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia requires proof of meningitis ACWY vaccination from all pilgrims travelling for Hajj or Umrah, and it’s also recommended for other travellers for personal protection. The certificate must show the vaccine was given at least 10 days before arrival, and is generally valid for up to 5 years. This isn’t a formality to leave until the last minute, given the compulsory nature of the requirement for pilgrimage travel.

Malaria risk in Saudi Arabia is very limited, generally confined to specific rural southwestern areas, so tablets aren’t usually needed for typical business, leisure or pilgrimage travel. Hepatitis A and typhoid are recommended for most travellers due to food and water hygiene, and routine boosters are worth checking given the crowded conditions typical of Hajj and Umrah.

The meningitis ACWY certificate is compulsory for Hajj and Umrah. It must be issued at least 10 days before you arrive in Saudi Arabia. Leaving this too late risks being refused entry.
We provide a certificate suitable for Saudi border checks. This records the vaccine name, type and date given, in the format expected on arrival.
