Weight Management Consultation

Weight and Metabolic Health

Written by the Veritas Pharmacy clinical team. Address: 113 Chester Road, Sunderland. Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council, registration number 9012617.

Deciding to look at your weight properly, rather than trying yet another quick fix, can feel like a big step. Our weight management consultation starts with a free, no obligation appointment, giving you a full hour to talk through your current lifestyle, diet, and health with a pharmacist, and to leave with advice tailored specifically to you.

What does the initial consultation involve?

Your first appointment lasts around one hour and is completely free, with no obligation to continue afterwards. Your pharmacist takes the time to understand your current lifestyle, diet, and general health, including body measurements and a blood pressure check as part of the assessment. From this, your pharmacist provides specific, tailored advice, rather than generic guidance that does not account for your individual circumstances.

Where appropriate, your pharmacist can also prescribe treatment as part of this assessment. Treatment options, where suitable and wanted, start from £99.

An ongoing programme, if you want one

Your initial consultation is a starting point, not a commitment. If you decide you would like ongoing support, this can continue as a structured programme with monthly follow-up appointments. If you decide the consultation alone is enough for now, that is entirely fine too. There is no obligation either way.

Blood testing, if you want it

Blood tests are not a required part of this consultation, but are available if you would find them useful, whether to get a clearer baseline picture of your health or to monitor progress over time. You can find more detail on our weight management blood test.

What to expect at your appointment

Your pharmacist will ask about your current diet, activity levels, sleep, and general health, alongside any previous attempts at managing your weight and what has or has not worked for you before. Body measurements and a blood pressure check are taken as part of this assessment. You will then be given advice specific to your own circumstances, and, where appropriate and wanted, treatment can be discussed and prescribed during the same appointment.

How to prepare for your appointment

There is no special preparation needed. It is helpful to think in advance about your current eating and activity habits, any previous approaches to managing your weight, and any medicines you currently take, since these can all be relevant to the advice your pharmacist gives you.

How to book your weight management consultation

Booking takes a couple of minutes online, or you can call the clinic directly to speak to someone first. The initial consultation takes place in person at our clinic in Sunderland.

The initial consultation is free, with no obligation to continue. Where treatment is suitable and wanted, options start from £99. The appointment lasts around one hour.
