Travel vaccinations
for Pakistan.
Malaria is present throughout most of Pakistan, and typhoid remains a genuine concern, including drug-resistant strains detected in returning travellers. If you’re staying for 4 weeks or more, there’s also a polio exit requirement worth knowing about well before you fly. Our GPhC-registered pharmacist provides a full pre-travel health assessment and your recommended vaccines in a single visit.
What you need before you travel to Pakistan.
There is no yellow fever risk within Pakistan, but a certificate is required if you arrive from a country with yellow fever risk, or have transited more than 12 hours through an airport in such a country. If you’re staying in Pakistan for 4 weeks or more, proof of polio vaccination given between 4 weeks and 12 months before departure may be required when you leave the country, so this is worth planning for well ahead of a longer trip.
Malaria risk is present throughout the year in most of Pakistan below 2,000m, with the exception of Punjab province and the city of Karachi. Since 2016, Pakistan has experienced an ongoing outbreak of extensively drug-resistant typhoid, with cases detected in travellers returning to the UK, making typhoid vaccination a genuine priority rather than a routine formality for this destination.
What we can provide.
A genuine priority for Pakistan given the ongoing drug-resistant typhoid outbreak, recommended for all travellers.
Present throughout most of Pakistan below 2,000m, excluding Punjab and Karachi. No vaccine exists, so antimalarial tablets are prescribed following assessment.
Recommended for most travellers due to food and water hygiene risks.
If you’re staying 4 weeks or more, a documented booster within the right timeframe may be needed for your exit from Pakistan.
Considered for longer stays, higher-risk activities, or travellers who may need medical or dental care while away.
Selectively recommended for those at highest risk, such as longer stays, rural travel, or basic sanitation conditions.

Vaccinations and antimalarial prescription
Any recommended vaccines available on the day are administered at the appointment. Antimalarial tablets are prescribed if suitable for you.
