Travel vaccinations
for Kenya.

Kenya is a popular safari destination, and malaria protection matters for most of the classic safari circuit, including the Maasai Mara, Amboseli and Tsavo. Yellow fever isn’t required for direct travel from the UK, but is often recommended, and sometimes needed, if your trip combines Kenya with other East African countries. Our GPhC-registered pharmacist provides a full pre-travel health assessment and your recommended vaccines in a single visit.

Entry requirements

What you need before you travel to Kenya.

Yellow fever vaccination isn’t a legal requirement for travellers arriving directly from the UK, but it’s strongly recommended for your own protection, and may be required if your trip includes onward travel to or from another country with yellow fever risk, which is common on multi-country East Africa itineraries (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda). The certificate only becomes valid 10 days after vaccination, so book this well ahead of your trip.

Malaria is present in most safari areas, including the Maasai Mara, Amboseli and Tsavo, with higher risk during and after the rainy seasons (March to May and October to December). There is no vaccine for malaria, so antimalarial tablets combined with bite avoidance are essential for safari travel. Hepatitis A and typhoid are recommended for most travellers due to food and water hygiene.

Combining Kenya with other East African countries? Yellow fever requirements can depend on your full itinerary, including countries you transit through. Tell your pharmacist your complete route so we can confirm what applies to you.
Veritas Pharmacy is an approved Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre. We can administer the vaccine and issue your ICVP certificate on the same day as your appointment, subject to clinical assessment.
