Travel vaccinations
for Indonesia.
Indonesia is a vast archipelago, and health risks vary enormously depending which islands you’re visiting. Jakarta, Java and Bali carry low malaria risk, while the eastern provinces, including Papua and Maluku, carry considerably higher risk. Our GPhC-registered pharmacist provides a full pre-travel health assessment tailored to your exact route, in a single visit.
What you need before you travel to Indonesia.
There is no yellow fever risk in Indonesia and no vaccine required for direct travel from the UK, a certificate is only needed if you arrive from a country with yellow fever risk. Malaria risk varies enormously across the archipelago. It’s low to negligible in Jakarta, Java and Bali, but considerably higher in the five eastern provinces of Nusa Tenggara Timur, Maluku, North Maluku, Papua and West Papua, where protection is genuinely important.
Hepatitis A and typhoid are recommended for most travellers due to food and water hygiene, whichever islands you’re visiting. Japanese encephalitis is present in rural areas across much of the country, particularly around rice paddies, and is worth considering for rural travel or longer stays.
