About the test

A quick way to check where you stand.

This rapid blood test measures your current Vitamin D level, giving you a clear picture of whether you’re within a healthy range, borderline, or deficient. It’s a good option if you’re experiencing possible symptoms, such as tiredness, low mood, or bone or muscle aches, and want an answer before deciding on any next steps.

This test is offered on a standalone basis, so there’s no obligation to start treatment in the same appointment. If your result does come back low and you’d like treatment, our pharmacist can talk you through the options, or you can book our Vitamin D test and treat service directly next time, which combines testing with treatment matched to your result in one appointment.

No pressure to treat on the day. This is a test-only service. You’re free to take your result away and decide on treatment separately, whether with us or elsewhere.

FAQs

Vitamin D blood test FAQs.

Will I be pressured into treatment if my result is low?
No. This is a test-only service. Your pharmacist will explain your result and the treatment options available, but the decision on whether and when to treat is entirely yours.
How quickly will I get my result?
This is a rapid, capillary sample test analysed onsite, so your result is ready in around 15 minutes, rather than waiting for a lab send-away result.
What if I want treatment as well as the test?
Our Vitamin D test and treat service combines testing with treatment matched to your result in a single appointment, which may suit you better if you’re confident you’ll want to proceed either way.
Who is most likely to have low Vitamin D?
Deficiency is more common over autumn and winter, and in people with darker skin, those who cover most of their skin, older adults, people who are housebound, and those with certain digestive conditions affecting absorption.
