What this test tells you.
This test detects antibodies produced by your immune system in response to the Hepatitis C virus. A positive antibody result means you have been exposed to the virus at some point, it does not automatically mean you have an active, ongoing infection, since some people clear the virus naturally. A positive result is usually followed by a further test to check whether the virus is still present.
This test is commonly required for university placements, healthcare and dental roles, and other occupational health screening, as well as for general peace of mind or as part of a wider sexual health check.
