Do I need to tell my general practitioner?

When should you seek medical advice?

- No specific recent exposure or concern
- A recent new sexual partner, or sex without a condom
- A partner has recently tested positive for a sexually transmitted infection
- A significant possible exposure to HIV within the last 72 hours
If you believe you may have been exposed to HIV within the last 72 hours, emergency preventative treatment may be available, and timing matters for it to work. Please contact a sexual health clinic, your general practitioner, NHS 111, or an Accident and Emergency department immediately.
