Private COVID-19 vaccine.
NHS COVID-19 vaccination campaigns now focus on those at highest risk, typically older adults and people with a weakened immune system. If you’re outside current NHS eligibility but still want protection, whether for work, travel, or general peace of mind, it’s available privately. GPhC-registered pharmacist, no GP referral needed.
Why NHS eligibility has narrowed over time.
As COVID-19 immunity has built up across the population through vaccination and prior infection, NHS vaccination campaigns have narrowed to focus on those most likely to become seriously unwell. Current NHS campaigns, run in spring and autumn each year, are typically offered to people aged 75 and over, care home residents, and those aged 6 months and over with a weakened immune system.
If you’re outside these groups, for example a healthy adult under 75, or work in a role with regular public contact, private vaccination remains available. The vaccine used is updated periodically to better target the strains currently circulating.
Is the private COVID-19 vaccine right for you?
Wanting protection through the winter months, or simply a convenient, same-day appointment.
Where reducing time off sick and exposure to colleagues matters.
Reducing your own risk also reduces the chance of passing on infection at home.
Some destinations or events may have entry requirements or simply carry higher exposure risk.
Eligibility can change between campaigns, we can help you check, or simply proceed privately.

How your COVID-19 vaccination works.
Quick health check
Your pharmacist confirms the vaccine is suitable for you, including checking when you last had a dose.
Single injection
One dose, given into the upper arm.
Best spaced from your last dose
A gap of around 3 to 6 months since your last COVID-19 vaccine or confirmed infection is generally recommended, your pharmacist can confirm timing based on your history.
Periodic updates
The vaccine formulation is reviewed and updated periodically to better match circulating strains, so having a previous dose doesn’t mean you’re protected against the latest one indefinitely.
