Travel vaccinations
for Egypt.
Egypt is a generally lower-risk destination for most visitors, whether you’re touring the Pyramids and Cairo, cruising the Nile, or relaxing at a Red Sea resort. Hepatitis A and typhoid remain relevant for most trips, with malaria essentially not a concern for typical tourist itineraries. Our GPhC-registered pharmacist provides a full pre-travel health assessment tailored to your plans, in a single visit.
What you need before you travel to Egypt.
There is no yellow fever risk in Egypt and no vaccine required for direct travel from the UK, a certificate is only needed if you arrive from a country with yellow fever risk. Malaria is not considered a risk for typical tourist travel to Egypt, so antimalarial tablets aren’t usually needed, whichever part of the country you’re visiting.
Hepatitis A and typhoid are recommended for most travellers due to food and water hygiene, particularly relevant for Nile cruises and more extensive touring beyond resort areas. Rabies is worth considering given the presence of stray dogs in some areas, particularly for longer stays or more rural travel away from resorts.
