Travel vaccinations
for Vietnam.
Vietnam’s malaria risk varies significantly by region, with the main cities and coastal tourist areas carrying little to no risk, but the central highlands and more rural provinces requiring proper protection. Hepatitis A and typhoid are relevant for most itineraries. Our GPhC-registered pharmacist provides a full pre-travel health assessment tailored to your route, in a single visit.
What you need before you travel to Vietnam.
There is no yellow fever risk in Vietnam and no vaccine required for direct travel from the UK, a certificate is only needed if you arrive from a country with yellow fever risk. Malaria risk is low to negligible in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, the Red River Delta, the Mekong Delta, and central coastal cities including Da Nang and Nha Trang, but rises in the central highlands and more rural, forested provinces.
Hepatitis A and typhoid are recommended for most travellers due to food and water hygiene. Japanese encephalitis is present in rural areas, particularly rice-farming regions, and is worth considering for longer stays or rural travel. Rabies is also worth discussing given the presence of stray dogs in many areas.
